The aim of our shipping department is to attend to the needs of ship owners, ship operators and other professionals engaged in shipping and related business.

Whilst first and foremost, we tend to the registration of shipping companies, our shipping team has vast experience in ship and yacht registration and parallel registrations of such under the Cyprus system and in a timely manner.

Yacht registration is also key, whereas our team is able to assist with its registration and advice on how to enjoy the very attractive VAT leasing scheme that Cyprus offers for yacht, mega-yacht and sailing boat owners which has been renewed for a further 10 years as of October 2019.

We can advise on a variety of shipping related matters, particularly:

George is a partner at E & G Economides LLC. He is also the Vice-Chairman of Totalserve Management Limited, an award-winning international corporate services provider which is headquartered in Cyprus.

George obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Westminster. Further to his studies, George has gained extensive experience in accounting, auditing and tax matters with a leading Cyprus accountancy firm.

His area of focus is tax, real-estate, immigration and technology with IP & GDPR and he is also involved in the firm’s business development, marketing and operational activities. George is a member of the Cyprus Bar Association, a member of the Individual Tax and Private Client Committee of the International Bar Association and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

He frequently works with HNWIs and international law firms and associates providing advice in restructurings, investments, acquisitions and disposals of either assets, intangible assets or real estate. He also represents and generally advises international companies and group of companies that have relocated and headquartered to Cyprus such as ship-owning, ship-management, e-commerce, investment, financial services and real-estate companies.

George has also been recognized by the Legal500, a leading legal directory and over the years, has co-authored various publications on consecutive occasions as regards to M&A, tax, lending & finance and technology/digital business.

Marianna holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of International Commercial Law, both from the University of Surrey. She is a member of the Cyprus Bar Association.

At the beginning of her legal career, she worked as a trainee lawyer for a leading Cypriot law firm, where she was mostly dealing with corporate transactions and additionally preparing and presenting civil cases before the Court. 

Before joining E & G Economides LLC, Marianna gained great experience working as an advocate at the private client department of a prestigious law firm in Cyprus where she was dealing with immigration matters and property transactions including drafting and negotiating of sales/purchase agreements, assignment agreements and handling probates, drafting of Wills and Trust agreements. 

In her current position, Marianna advises on real estate and property related issues, transactions and disputes. She is also assisting with the drafting and filing of probates proceedings in Cyprus courts. Furthermore, she has relevant experience in shipping related proceedings when it comes to chartering, regulatory and ship/yacht registration and parallel registrations of such.
