On the 17th-18th October 2019, Xenia Kasapi of E&G Economides LLC attended the Artificial Intelligence: Challenges for Intellectual Property Law conference which took part in Brussels, Belgium. The event was organised and supported by the Academy of European Law (ERA), a programme of the European Union.
The conference discussed issues such as the need for regulation of AI and the application in practice of legal principles in line with the Digital Single Market Strategy and the European intellectual property framework.
Key topics were such as AI, ethics, human rights and innovation, the protection of software/computer-implemented inventions used in AI technologies, patent filing for an AI-related invention in Europe, protecting AI via copyright law, AI ownership, AI authorship and infringement of intellectual property rights, AI, innovation, data concentration and collusion and many more.
